The Nordy is available in four and five string versions known as the vJ4 and the vJ5.

Every step of the build process except painting the bodies is handled by a small dedicated team of very skilled craftsmen that put their best energy into each instrument. vJ4 Specifications:

The vJ4 comes with Nordstrand NJ4 single coil J style pickups as standard with two volumes and a tone (volume, blend, tone is an available option). Scale is 34" with 20 frets, radius is 9" to 14" compound, small vintage style fret wire, 1.5" bone nut, 19mm bridge spacing, and a fast satin finished neck with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard.

The vJ5 is available in two configurations: Modern and Classic.

Modern

The Modern vJ5 comes with proprietary Nordstrand Big Single soapbar pickups as standard with two volumes and a tone (volume, blend, tone is an available option). Scale is 34.5" with 21 frets, radius is 12" to 20" compound, small vintage style fretwire, 1.81" bone nut, 19mm bridge spacing and a fast satin finish neck with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard.

If you are looking for a souped up J bass on steroids, this is it. The slightly longer scale, combined with our signature pickups and proprietary preamp give a sound that is bigger, bolder, and harder to hide in a mix. It's a J bass with attitude.

Classic

The Classic vJ5 has the same options as the Modern, but it feartures a 20 fret 34" scale neck with a 9" to 14" radius and is available with a one piece maple neck with a skunk stripe.

If you want a vintage J bass built to exacting standards that delivers a strikingly authentic tone, this is the bass for you. The traditional scale length combined with carefully selected woods and exceptionally faithful pickups and electronics will make you swear you're playing a classic four string J bass that somehow had a B string added to it.

Introducing the Nordstrand Guitars NX5 Bolt On Bass Guitar:

This bass is the pinnacle of what we feel a bass guitar can be.  These instruments are made entirely in our shop in Southern California by a small group of dedicated craftsmen.  The care that we put into every instrument is apparent in the obvious attention to the smallest detail.

An NX5 with a beautiful Spalted Maple top over an Ash body, 3 piece Maple neck and Birdseye Maple fingerboard with Abalone blocks, Big Single pickups with matching wood covers.

Features include:

34.5” scale 22 fret bolt-on necks made from three pieces of Maple.

Ash, Alder, Walnut, or Mahogany body, with your choice of a top selected from our stock. The top also includes a matching headstock and veneer line.

Fingerboard options include Birdseye Maple, East Indian Rosewood, Cocobolo, Pau Ferro, and Bubinga.

Nordstrand 3 band preamp specifically voiced to sound great with our pickups.  The control layout includes a passive tone and a pull switch on the volume for switching to passive mode.  There is also a pull on the mid pot to allow a 2nd mid frequency.

Terms Of Sale

We accept VISA/MC, money orders, paypal, and personal checks (must clear before shipping). Credit card and paypal transactions are subject to my approval.

A $500 deposit is due at time of ordering to secure price and placement in build schedule. The balance of the sale plus shipping is due upon completion of the instrument.

Please note! - Any instrument not paid for within one month of completion is subject to immediate sale by Nordstrand Guitars. Any deposit amount remaining towards said instrument will be forfeit at this time.

All instruments are lifetime warranted to the original owner. Determining applicability of warranty is solely at our discretion. Prices are subject to change. All prices are in US dollars. Instruments sold within California will have tax added to total price.
